Kö-Bogen II is most famous for its extensive use of greenery, earning it the title of “Europe’s largest green facade.” The project features over 30,000 plants, primarily hornbeam (Hainbuche) hedges, stretching across eight kilometers. These hedges cover the facades and roofs, supported by a custom-engineered system of planters and an integrated irrigation network that relies heavily on harvested rainwater, supplemented by sensor-controlled drip irrigation when needed.

Situated between the Schadowstraße shopping street and the Gustaf-Gründgens-Platz, Kö-Bogen II is strategically positioned in Düsseldorf’s city center.

It neighbors two architectural icons of post-war modernism: the Dreischeibenhaus (a sleek high-rise completed in 1960) and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (a theater from 1970, also renovated by Ingenhoven Architects during this period).

The adjacent Hofgarten, Düsseldorf’s historic park, further enhances the site’s appeal, creating a seamless blend of urban and natural elements.
