When we talk about environmental effects of corona virus most people think about the 4% reduction of carbon emissions which is the result of the global quarantines and it is a great thing but when we consider every aspect of it , we can see that we have more waste now than ever before.
129 Billion face masks are being made every month. that amount is enough to cover the whole country of Switzerland at the end of the year and due to pandemic 30% more none recyclable materials such as take out plastic containers , face masks , gloves and etc are finding their way in to our oceans.
Masks and gloves look like jellyfish so it’s hard for wildlife creatures to find the difference so in result, these kind of waste damage our marine life even more than before.
Looking back on my two decades in this field, I’m still as committed as ever to telling important stories and getting people to care about the Earth. Outside of writing, I work with Environmental groups that are trying to make things better for the environment and have a positive impact.
