Water , one of the the main reasons why life exist on our planet.

have you ever thought about what would happen if we ran out of water ? did you know right now there are areas that are truly feeling the affects of water shortage ? we provide you 5 reasons how water shortage affects us all to let you know it’s not just one countries problem but it can be a global threat for all of us.

clean water can be liquid gold and water shortage affects us all

1 – We can’t survive without water

human body can survive 8 – 21 days without food but our bodies can’t survive more than 3 days without water . water is an essential need for our bodies and in fact up to 60% of our body is water. water regulates body temperature , helps deliver oxygen to all of our cells and a lot more that we may still don’t know about.

a burger needs a lot of water

2 – Water shortage can become Food shortage

A 1/3 pound burger requires 660 gallons of water. when water shortage happens it will have food shortage along with it. when there is no water , plants can’t grow  and livestock  can’t find anything to eat so they perish . Currently, on average agriculture accounts  for 70 percent of all freshwater withdrawals globally . when there is no water there is no agriculture so there is no food (specially for non vegans)

electricity and water shortage

3 – Energy shortage

Hydropower and thermoelectric power make up to 98% of the world’s electricity generation. generating electric power consumes more than three trillion gallons of water globally per year. as the population grows our demand for energy grows with it.  with india and china leading the growth , scientists estimate that by the years 2035 our global energy demand will rise up to 70%. clean energies such as solar and wind power require less water to produce energy but right now they have small share of global energy generation.

4 – Global economy effect

based on a research by World bank  , Water scarcity could cost some regions up to 6% of their GDP. when there is no water most jobs such as farming , agriculture, … won’t even exist. not having access to drinkable water will decrease the productivity of the workers which then can result in higher prices for goods and services as well.

5 – Water problem is a health problem

based on Water.org , Globally, 785 million people lack access to safe water and Nearly 1 million people die each year from water, sanitation and hygiene-related diseases. Now imagine what will happen with the growth of population?  yes more demand for water , migration and much more deaths in results of that. Safe drinking water is also critical to the development of a healthy child and lack of water will cause  illnesses like typhoid and Diarrhea which are leading causes of child death.

it’s a Global problem …

you may think countries such as Canada which have 20% of the global fresh water won’t feel the effects of the water shortage but unfortunately when water runs out in one place , every other country  begin to feel the affects of it. whether it’s the economic effect or it could be new waves of  migrants who are struggling to find a better place where they could at least have something to eat or  drink.

What can we do ?

we can list a lot of ways that you can prevent the water scarcity both for you and our planet but in Nopolluting we have one simple and effective solution :

TREAT WATER AS IF IT WAS GOLD

when you have this kind of mindset you begin to appreciate water more and more and you can’t even think about wasting it . if everyone behave more responsibly about water , we surly will ran into water shortages but at least it won’t be anytime soon.

having the Infrastructure of “zero wasting water” can also have a huge impact on saving our earth’s water resources both for us and hopefully for our future generations as well.

Remember : saving water is more important than saving the economy because without water there is no economy to save.
